Uses of Lemons

I love lemons on cooking as well, but you have to be careful it doesn't over power the flavor. I love to add it to any seafood at the end, always to my soup and of course for salad dressings.

I know there are many uses of lemon, but the most used of lemons in my house are listed below.

1: To get rid of the smell and help sanitize the cutting board, rub it all over with the cut side of half a lemon or wash it in undiluted juice straight from the bottle.

2: If your garbage disposal is beginning to make your sink smell yucky, lemon is your best friend.

Lemon and orange peels and toss them down the drain.

4: Lemon water reduces the production of free radicals which are responsible for aging skin and skin damage. Lemon water is calorie free and an antioxidant.

5: Lemon water can fight throat infections thanks to its antibacterial property.

6: Lemon juice also stops bleeding gums and reduces toothaches.

7: Lemon juice helps to purify the blood, reduces your chances of indigestion, constipation, eliminates toxins from the body, adds digestion and reduces.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I love reading your comments.

Red cabbage and beet salad

I love the color on both Beet and Red Cabbage. This type of cabbage and beet offers a wealth of nutritional and health benefits.

Red cabbage contains the phytochemical sulforaphane, which may reduce your risk of cancer, particularly lung cancer, and may also help rid your body of toxins that can lead to illness or disease. The antioxidants in red cabbage play similar roles. Red cabbage contains six to eight times more antioxidants than white cabbage.

Red cabbage is also packed with minerals. Such as potassium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium.

The vitamin C in beetroot juice is a potent antioxidant, which may offer protection against the carcinogenic effects of environmental toxins.

Several nutrients in beetroot juice support the activities of your immune system. Vitamin C promotes the production and activity of the white blood cells that fight infections. Vitamin A helps your body create barriers against infectious organisms. Vitamins A, folate and zinc support your immune system by promoting metabolic function and contributing to the production of proteins that help your body resist infection.

4 medium size beets. Cut the beet thin. I like them little soft.

Boil 1/4 cup of water and let the beet cook for about 10 minute on high heat.

Add cabbage as mush as you prefer and some carrots for color.

Use the liquid for dressing from the beet after you boil and drain.  Let it cool first, then add one table spoon of olive oil, teaspoon of Balsamic vinegar. Salt and pepper.

Put some kind of green arugula, spinach or any kind of lettuce under your salad.

Here you have very colorful and healthy salad!

Enjoy!

Weight loss

For the past two years, I have gained twenty pounds. It has been so hard to loose weight.

In May, I decided to do Interval training, which is walk for three minutes and run for a minute. Repeat the same thing for about half an hour. If you can, do it twice a day.

Today, it has been exactly a month and I lost five pounds and 2 inches. I feel good, my body has got stronger everyday. Because the first week, my whole body was in pain.

I know going on vacation for three weeks will pull me back behind, eating fast food and I won't be able to exercise.

Every morning, I try to drink juice.
1 orange
1 grape fruit
2 kiwi
1/2 lemon
1 teaspoon honey
1 cup of water
some ice

Put it all in blender. It makes two cups of juice. Sometimes I add mint and ginger water instead to clean the toxic in my body.
Here you have it. Don't sweat about life, take one day at a time. Do one thing better than yesterday.

Happy Summer!!!!!

Weight loss tips

I guess as you get older the metabolism decline. We need to workout and eat better if we need to see some results. Here are some tips:

Weight-Loss and Detox: Add 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a 1 or 2 liter water bottle.  Drink this throughout the day to cleanse your body and kidneys all day long. I do it twice a day.

Stress: When you are stress, it is hard to lose weight. Since you can't change anything by stressing, take time and meditate in the word of God. Be content and find something you are grateful about.

Waking up in the morning and looking at my kids is the best gift ever.
Life is what you make it, so find joy in living!!
Blessings!!

Weight loss

I just don't do any diet program. It seems to me how long can you follow such a restriction. Since I gained 25 lbs this past year, I  really need to lose at least 25 lbs.

Here is what I plan to do:
1. Drink a lots of water. Measure your intake and document it.
2. Eat green chilled pepper, Spicy foods contain chemical compounds that kick the metabolism.
3. Make sure you take enough fiber, and eat enough protein.
4. Build a muscle. Muscle uses about 6 calories a day, and each pound of fat burns 2 calories daily.
5. High intense aerobic workout.
I love to cook at home, and by doing that you can control what you eat.

So, God help me to follow through!

Health

I am going to post about health from experience and finding article from the websites.  I became serious about what I eat just the past 3 years. I had no idea what MSG was and how much hormones they  feed the cows or sheep.  And also pepticides.  I really want my kids to understand at early age.
I know it is not cheap to buy Organic foods. There are some food you don't have to worry eating organic food. As a general rule, unless the produce has a thick, impermeable skin, assume it’s soaked in pesticides. Now wash it with water and mild soap before you eat it.
We drink alot of milk and use 1/4 dozen eggs daily, and it is scary when you read how much hormones the cows and chickens are fed.   David Zinczenko said: Today’s cows are routinely fed a hormone called recombinant bovine somatotropin, or rBST. Studies have linked rBST to a multitude of cancers, including those of the prostate, breast, and colon. Milk from rBST-treated cows in America.
I know we can eat oranges, grapefruits, and many has thick skin, and wash your fruit and veggies very well. But, if you can afford it support your neighborhood farm market and buy organic.
May God protect Us, as we continue to apply wisdom in to our lives.

Weight loss

I have gained 25 lbs this year. I really thought I will loose 10 lbs this Summer. It didn't happen at all. As a matter of fact, coming to Jim and Ginger house means add up 10 lbs/week. First morning you wake up coffee already ready, then breakfast is a buffet. From bacon, egg, pancakes, fruit and sausage. Jim is up at 6:30AM. I join him for 2 miles walk including the dogs while the kids and Ginger are asleep.

I decided to wait after Summer is over to work on my weight. I know I wanted to wear nice swim suit at the  beach, that is not happening this year. No matter what, I have to loose at least 20 lbs, because my whole body hurts when I get up. Yes, I weigh only 140 lbs, but I am also 5.2 inches.
