Crochet Mat

 I am starting to enjoy to crochet again. My son stayed home on Tuesday ill. I sat next to him and crochet those in two days. He asked me to make him and his brother blue and orange. So, once I make the trip to Micheals or Joan, I will be making him his favorite color mat.

Since I didn't follow any pattern. Next step will be to duplicate and write down the pattern.

Crochet Coasters

         I learn to crochet when I was 6 years old.

  My sisters and I made from pillow case, table clothes and blankets. I can watch the pattern and make it with out reading. I do want make an effort to explain the pattern.

 Here is step-by-step how to crochet this pattern.

ch = chain, dc = double crochet, sc = single crochet, sl = slip stitch. 

Make 4 ch to form a ring. Make 4 ch to count as 1st dc and ch.

 

Make 1 dc in ring followed by 1 ch, in ring followed by 1 ch into ring. Repeat 7 times, then you will have 8 dc in the ring. 

 

Now, you have 8 dc, Ch 4. 1 dc in same stitch.

*Ch 1, 1 dc in next stitch, ch 1, 1 dc in same stitch. Repeat *. You will be making 2 dc in each dc with a chain inbetween. So finally you will have 16 dc in total with 1 ch between each stitch. Join together.

 

3 dc in each dc with a chain in between. You have 16 dc in total with 1 ch each stitch.

 

Now, you have 16 dc, 6 chain and stitch in between dc and you have your coaster.

 

 

 

 

Happy Rosh Hashanah!!

Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish festival. During the daily prayer service a ram's horn, or in the Hebrew, shofar, is sounded.

In the Christian world, Rosh Hashanah is known as The Feast Of Trumpets. Many Christians observe this festival for its christians prophetic application - the Return Of Jesus Christ.

1 Cor 51-51; "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on in corruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."

1 Thes 4:15-17; "According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

Orange Cake Delicious Recipe

 

 

Ingredients:

1 c. sugars
1 c. butter
3 eggs
1 c. sour cream
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
grated rind of one orange

Hot Orange Sauce ingredient:

3/4 c of orange juice

 2 TBL lemon juice

 3/4 c. of sugar and dash of salt

Instructions:

Cream butter and sugar well. Add egg yolks, sour cream, and orange rind; beat until light and fluffy. In different bowl, combine dry ingredients; sift flour, baking soda and baking powder. Mix dry ingredients to wet ingredient mixture. Beat egg whites until fluffy and fold into the mixture.

Pour into a well-greased and floured pan. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour. Remove from oven and let stand 15 minutes. Gently remove the cake in to rimmed plate. Rimmed plate helps the orange sauce from leaking. Pierce the top of the cake with a very thin skewer until you see no more rooms left in between holes

Combine hot orange ingredients; let sugar first dissolve over low heat, then bring to a boil for 3 to 4 minutes. . Spoon the hot orange sauce over the top of the cake slowly.

Cool it for 10 minutes and serve.

How to pay off student loans now

If you’re a recent graduate already carrying an over-sized student loan balance, is there hope for you?

Absolutely, but it won’t be easy.

Exactly how difficult that will be will have a lot to do with how much debt you have; the larger the loan balance the tougher the choices you’ll face.When you finish college it’s natural to want to get on with your adult life as soon as you can. You want a new car, a place of your own and to begin experiencing some of the adventures you couldn’t afford when you were in school. A few years later you might be looking at marriage, buying your first home, and for some, having children or starting a business. All will cost money, and some will require new loans.
In addition, careers and jobs aren’t as stable as they once were. Even though you have a job upon graduation, it’s hardly inconceivable that you might be unemployed just a year or two later. If that happens, you’ll need all of your financial resources to deal with the crisis at hand.
Student loans will interfere with all of that, and that’s why you should pay them off as soon as possible. Not only will they be a drain on your future cash flow and your ability to deal with a job loss, but they could also limit your ability to borrow money to buy a home or finance a new business.
How quickly you’ll be able to pay off student loans will depend on both the size of your debts and on your personal situation upon graduation.

Loan size

Though the average student loan debt is just over $25,000, the amount owed can vary by individual, anywhere from a few thousand dollars to well over $100,000. If your debt is at the lower end of the range, you can manage the pay off without making too many sacrifices. But if your debt is into the tens of thousands, you’ll need to make sacrifices, some of them life changing.
The bigger your student loan is, the greater it’s ability to interfere with your future plans, and the greater the need to get rid of it as soon as possible. You may be able to blend the pay off of a $10-20,000 student loan into the rest of your financial life, but if you owe more in student loans than you earn in salary, you’ll have to step out of your comfort zone to make it go away.

Your employment status

We hear and read a lot these days about graduates having student loan troubles, and though much of that has to do with loan size, employment is a more common problem. Let’s face it, it’s hard to pay back a large debt when you’re either unemployed or under employed. And more grads are falling into either category than ever, which is yet another strong reason to pay off student debt as soon as possible.
If there’s no work in your field of study, or you can do no better than minimum wage, there are certain student loan relief programs that may help you. It’s a long shot that you’ll qualify for any of them, and if you don’t you’ll have to be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get busy.

Strategies to pay off student loans

The best time to accomplish this is when you first get out of school. Life becomes more complicated as the years pass and as they do your ability to pay off the loans will decline. Here are ways to make that happen. You should easily be able to find an extra $10-15,000 per year to pay toward your student loans.
Housing on the cheap. There are several choices here: 1) move back in with your parents, 2) rent a room close to work, or 3) share a house or apartment with one or more roommates. If the choice is renting an apartment by yourself for $1,000 per month, or sharing a small three bedroom house for $1,200 with two roommates at $400 each, you’ll have an additional $600 per month, or $7,200 per year, to pay toward your student loans.
Employment plus. Take a second job and dedicate it entirely toward the pay off of your student loans. Even if you only make $8 an hour, if you work 20 hours per week, you’ll earn $160, or about $8,000 per year. Even allowing for taxes you’ll still have a good chunk of money to put toward your debt. And two bonuses: 1) with a part-time job you’ll spend less time at home with your parents or roommates, and 2) since you’ll be working, you won’t be out spending money!
A “beater” to the rescue. Buy the cheapest car you can afford to buy without taking a loan. If that’s a $2,000 beater, then that’s’ what you buy. While a new car may be very desirable after graduation, buying it with a loan will just add more debt to an already substantial pile, and cut down on the amount of income you’ll have to devote to paying off your student debt.
Staying out of other debt. The last thing you want to do while paying off your student loans is to run up your credit cards or take other loans. That’s just a matter of exchanging one form of debt for another.
You can use all or a combination of several. How far you’ll have to go will depend on how large your student loan debt is and how much you want to make it go away. But the sooner you do, the better the rest of your life will be.

What is your struggle today?

 
RUTH 1:8 – 15
Naomi’s husband Elimelech died, and then her 2 sons Machlon and Chilion died, leaving Naomi in dire straights and her daughters-in-law widows.

 Na’omi says, "No my daughters. On your behalf I feel very bitter that the hand of Adonai has gone out against me".

Naomi had in mind in her argument for Ruth and Orpah to go home to their mothers.

Orpah turns and tearfully leaves to go back in her Moabite hometown.

Did Orpah do something wrong, or selfish or evil in leaving Na’omi and going back?

Orpah’s decision shows us a good picture of how it is that people can walk right up to the brink of accepting the God of Israel and His Son Jesus Christ take the final step because there is another road to follow and it is the natural if not easier one. It is not an evil road necessarily; it just doesn’t lead to the true God and His plan for us. There is an interesting parallel to this narrative about Naomi, Orpah and Ruth in the New Testament in the book of Matthew.

Matthew 8:19, "A teacher approached and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds flying about have nests, but the Son of Man has no home of his own." Another of dicsiple said to him, "Sir, first let me go and bury my father."But Jesus replied, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."

Now we don’t know for certain what choices these two men made when Jesus told them what they must do and how uncertain life would be for them in following Him. But the point is that this little episode is so reflective of the Na’omi story. He warns them off and says He really has no good prospects of comfort and plenty ahead to share with them The one makes a statement that he will follow Jesus Christ right then and there; the other of them says he’d like to follow Jesus but really needs to return home for a while.

With no other information given it’s probably reasonable to suspect that the first one did go with Jesus (like Ruth did with Na’omi), but the second returned home to bury his father (choosing Orpah’s route). They would not have done an evil thing not to follow Messiah as part of His team; they would nothave done a wrong thing. But the better thing would have been to drop everything and go with Him.

There is no reason to believe that they did not trust Yeshua as Messiah; it was their level of commitment and translating that commitment to action that was at issue. These men and women remind us lot's wife from the old testament.

Ruth makes promises to Na’omi and then seals it with a vow. First is that where Na’omi goes, Ruth will go and that wherever Ruth stays (lives) she will stay. Na’omi’s people will become Ruth’s people, Na’omi’s God will become Ruth’s God and where Na’omi dies Ruth will die and finally wherever Na’omi chooses to be buried Ruth desires to be buried alongside her.

Ruth made a covenant with Na'omi. "May Yehoveh bring terrible curses on me and worse ones as well if anything but death separates you and me."

This week the holy spirit has been talking to me saying, your words needs to line up with action.

Many believers today wanted an easy route. We want take only the advantage of God, His blessings. But when it comes to suffer, crucification and commitment, we choose the easy way not Godly way.

What is your challenge that is holding you from serving God with all your heart, your will and all your mind? I challenge you to surrender to God. He is willing to help you, so go head cry out to God.
